Abstract
Objective : This study sought to investigate association between psychosocial factors and oral health-related factors in Korean adults using nationwide representative samples.

Method : The study included 6352 subjects aged 19 years over from the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES V, 2010). A multiple logistic regression analysis was used to estimate adjusted odd ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of oral health in psychosocial factors(depressive mood, stress, suicide ideation, respectively)

Results : After adjusting for other covariates, poor psychosocial factors(depressive mood, stress, suicide ideation) were significantly associated with lower use of oral health services despite having dental problems. Depressive mood was related to toothache experience, adults with high stress usually were related to unhealthy self-rated oral health, and those with suicide ideation were likely to be uncomfortable for mastication and speaking.

Conclusion : The results suggested that psychosocial factors strongly associated with oral health-related factors. This study underlines the importance of teamwork between clinicians, psychiatrists, and dentists.
